Retinoic acid is a form of Vitamin A. It will need to be prescribed for you. You can buy retinol products over the counter – but it is not the same.

How does it work?
Retinoic acid works by speeding up the skin’s metabolism to promote cellular regeneration, shedding the older skin cells and replacing them with younger cells. It increases the production of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid, which is a natural moisturiser in your skin
The result is that retinoic acid has a positive effect on both the deep layers of collagen in your skin as well as the uppermost layer comprised of skin cells.
It comes in three different strengths, 0.025%, 0.05% and 0.1%. Your skin specialist will advise you which strength to use, according to your skin type.
How can I get hold of it?
Retinoic acid is not an everyday skin product. It is only available with a prescription from a doctor. So you will need to visit a specialist skin clinic which has this facility.
